S. Tsingotjidou

Dr. Anastasia S. Tsingotjidou, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, PhD. She is Associate Professor at the Laboratory of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology of the School of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), Greece. She holds a PhD in Neuroanatomy and has also completed three postdoctoral fellowships in different research areas, all at the University of California, Los Angeles. She has many years of experience in teaching various aspects of animal Anatomy, Histology and Embryology at pre- and post-graduate level, and a strong record of peer-reviewed research publications on various aspects of animal neuroanatomy, with a more recent emphasis on animal models of human disease such as Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia, diabetes and cancer chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. She has 40 publications in international scientific journals, more than 50 announcements to international scientific conferences, two book chapters and two book translations. She has been the Principal Investigator in a number of grants supporting research using animal models mimicking human microenvironment. She is member of European Society for Laboratory Animal Veterinarians (ESLAV), and the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies among other national societies. She was also President of the Hellenic Society of Biomedical and Laboratory Animal Science (HSBLAS). She has organized and co-organized more than 5 national meetings, with the latest being an Experimental Design seminar through the Center of LifeLong Learning of AUTh. She was a member of the Scientific Committee of the HSBLAS-ESLAV-ECLAM European meeting on laboratory animal science. She is also serving as the national liaison of the Hellenic Society for Neurosciences at the Committee of Animal Research and Ethics, and was also member of the Ethics Committee of the AUTh. She is currently the President of the National Committee of Animal Welfare for animals used for scientific purposes and the Congress President of FELASA 2025.
