Francesco Napolitano is Associate Professor of Veterinary Physiology at the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production of University of Naples Federico II. He is also the animal welfare officer and scientific coordinator of the Animal Facility at CEINGE-Biotecnologie Avanzate Franco Salvatore (Naples, Italy). The expertise of Dr. Napolitano basically relies on behavioral neurobiology, neuropharmacology, and neurochemistry, aiming at better characterizing the physiological role of dopaminergic, glutamatergic, and serotonergic neurotransmissions, in both neurological and psychiatric mouse models. Finally, as a responsible for animal welfare he has been trying for a long time to support and promote research projects (ranging essentially from physiology to development and oncology fields), based on longitudinal studies, to ensure full compliance with 3Rs requirements, whenever possible.
