de Girolamo

Paolo de Girolamo is Full Professor of Veterinary Anatomy at the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production of the University of Naples Federico II (UNINA). He also serves as Coordinator of the Ph.D course in Veterinary Sciences (UNINA) and Chief Veterinary Officer and Chair of the Ethical Animal Care and Use Committee (UNINA). Still at UNINA, he served as Director of the Post-Degree School of Specialization in Sciences and Medicine of Laboratory Animals and as Coordinator of the Ph.D course in “Model Organisms in Biomedical and Veterinary Research”. He currently sits as member of the National Committee of Animal Welfare Body established by the Ministry of Health (Italy).

Prof de Girolamo has dedicated his research interest toward the use and phenotypic validation of model organisms in biomedical and veterinary research, with particular focus on suitable models in neuroscience research, with an interdisciplinary approach (from classical morphological techniques, to electrophysiology, imaging and machine learning). Prof de Girolamo has been awarded as partner of the PATHBIO “Precision Pathobiology for Disease Models” (http://www.pathbio.org) Erasmus+ Knowledge Alliances project, and principal investigator of several research projects at national level.
